Retro trial — World Cup qualifying, 2021. Otamendi caught Raphinha in the face with a heavy elbow; the referee did not even call a foul and VAR did not send him to the monitor. Raphinha needed treatment, Brazil were furious, and CONMEBOL later suspended both the referee and the VAR official for missing what it called a serious error. One of the cleanest old case files in the archive.
